I'm answering from the point of view of a Christian who used to be an atheist, born into an atheist family, hopefully providing a different perspective. To begin, here's a simplified version of my purpose in life:

Faith, to many people, contains a negative connotation of being an option for the lack of knowledge. Here's another view. Faith is an option for going beyond knowledge.

Here's a story about predicting the outcome of an unborn child.
There was a young couple back in China in the 80's. They got married when they were in the early stages of graduate school, working towards their PhDs. But soon after that, they conceived a child. They used protection but it failed.
